Jade Summit Temple

This temple is located on the southern range of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and is surrounded by many beautiful pine trees. Many years ago, this temple was a monastery but now it has also been one of the scenic spot in LiJiang .

In this temple, you can enjoyed the beauty of the camellia tree that stands in the courtyard. This camellia tree is about 300 years old and blooms nearly 20 times from March to July every year. The number of camellia flower it blooms during this period is more than 20 thousand blooms.Hence this tree is named as "Ten- Thousand Flowered Camellia". It is also a combination of two types of trees. Through years of growth, the trees have merged together and their branches are so intertwined that no one can distinguish which tree from which. Now this tree is regarded as a symbol of a blessed and harmonious marriage amongst the Naxi people. This camellia tree is so rare and unique that you will not see any like this in other parts of world. Due to the size and age, this tree was boasted to be the "King of Camellia" as well as the "First Camellia of the Globe"
